During the event, the joint units provided free health check-ups and medicines to nearly 100 local fishermen. They also presented 20 gifts to disadvantaged fishermen’s families and needy children of fishermen with good academic records in Dong Hai ward, Phan Rang - Thap Cham city.

Apart from the above-mentioned activities, the forces also gave 150 life jackets, 50 lifebuoys, 300 national flags to local people. In addition, they distributed 300 sets of documents titled “What fishermen should know” to local fishermen to provide them with basic information about sea legal documents, safe, sustainable and legal fishing, positions of Navy-run wharfs offering logistics and technical services, and available communication frequencies to help fishermen operate at sea.

The program was meaningful to help tighten the relations between naval troops and local fishermen, promote the joint efforts to build a firm all people’s defense disposition and people’s warfare at sea, as well as confirm and safeguard the sacred national sovereignty over sea and islands.
