More supports for UXO victims
PANO – On October 7, the Executive Agency of the State Steering Committee for the National Action Program on overcoming the aftermath of bombs, mines and explosives left behind by the war (Steering Committee 504 in short) in association with the Can Tho Municipal People’s Committee held an art exchange themed “For peaceful life” and presented gifts to victims of unexploded ordnances (UXOs) in the city.
Major General Le Hien Van, Deputy-Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, member of Steering Committee 504, and representatives from Military Region 9, Can Tho city and Hau Giang province attended the event.
An art performance at the program
Speaking at the program, General Van held that the whole society should join hands to overcome the aftermath of UXOs in post-war time. People’s awareness of preventing accidents related to bombs and mines has been raised over recent times, however, information dissemination should be accelerated to further foster the community’s responsibilities, he added.

During the exchange, the Executive Agency of Steering Committee 504 handed over VND 180 million in cash and 15 gifts to UXO victims from Can Tho City and Hau Giang province.
Earlier in the day, the agency, in association with the Military Region 9 Command, opened an exhibition displaying bombs, mines and UXOs at the military’s regional museum.
