General Staff mission holds gratitude activities in Thai Nguyen
PANO - A mission from the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, led by its chief Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Defense Minister, conducted a “returning to the root” program at the ATK (safe zone) historical relic site in Dinh Hoa district, Thai Nguyen province, on August 23.
The mission was joined by Deputy Defense Ministers Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Chiem, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong, and Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, and three Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff Lieutenant Generals Le Huy Vinh, Phung Si Tan and Nguyen Van Nghia, and Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics Sr. Lt. Gen. Do Can, former leaders of the General Staff, and representatives from the General Staff’s affiliates.
At the relic site, the mission offered incense to pay homage to President Ho Chi Minh at his memorial house. They expressed gratitude to Uncle Ho who greatly contributed to the revolutionary cause of the nation and the birth and development of the Vietnam People’s Army.

The mission also paid tribute to Generals Vo Nguyen Giap, Nguyen Chi Thanh, and Hoang Van Thai at their former working places in the district.
As part of the gratitude program, the mission participated in ceremonies to inaugurate and present bridges and rural roads to the localities. They also presented gifts to other localities and units stationed in the localities, as well as groups with outstanding achievements in carrying out activities in celebration of the 75th founding anniversary of the General Staff (September 7, 1945-2020).
The “Returning to the root” program is among major activities marking the 75th founding anniversary of the General Staff.
Other activities conducted by the General Staff and its affiliates in Dinh Hoa district included upgrading the General Staff’s historical relic sites and the Monument dedicated to heroes and fallen soldiers in Dinh Bien commune, building four gratitude houses for the district’s policy beneficiary families, and providing free health checkups, medicines and health counselling for local policy beneficiaries.
