Defense Minister sends condolences to families of fallen troops
PANO - On October 19, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Defense Minister sent a letter of condolence to the families of 22 troops of Defense-Economic Unit 337 under Military Region 4 who recently sacrificed their lives while implementing natural disaster prevention and control tasks.
In the letter, General Lich reviewed a serious landslide in Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province that occurred on the early morning of October 18, which claimed the lives of 22 officers and soldiers of Defense-Economic Unit 337.

The defense leader emphasized that it was a great loss to troops in the military and people nationwide. He sent deep condolences to the families of the deceased and wished that they would repress their anguish to make joint efforts in overcoming the flood aftermath, soon resume normal life, and continue to contribute to the development of their home town and the nation.
General Lich stressed that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense acknowledged the merits and sacrifice of the 22 fallen troops who had always stayed ready to perform missions in extremely difficult, arduous and dangerous conditions in mountainous and remote areas.
He added that troops in the whole military will study and follow their bright example and be determined, continue to support flood-hit people in the Central region, and join hands with people nationwide to overcome this hard time. They will also actively carry out natural disaster prevention, search and rescue missions, and ensure safety for people and property, deserving the trust of the Party, State, and people.
