Speaking at the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang affirmed that as an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) is set to successfully accomplish its functions of combat, work and production.

In the current context, along with combat readiness task, the VPA has fulfilled the "combat mission in peacetime." The military has always been forefront to help people in dealing with natural disasters and construction collapses as well as actively joined activities to support international friends, among others.

The defense minister underlined that in recent years, Hung Yen is one of the ten provinces nationwide maintaining the highest growth rate in the country and attracting foreign investment. Many localities in Hung Yen have met advanced standards in new-style rural areas and model new-style rural areas. The province has well implemented defense and security affairs and social safety and order. Therefore, the living standards of the local people have improved significantly, contributing to consolidating solidarity and joining hands to building a civilized, safe, beautiful, and peaceful resident area.

Gen. Giang expressed his hope that in the time to come, the local authority would continue to promote good traditions and obtained achievements; pro-actively concretize and effectively implement the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, especially resolutions on agriculture, farmers and rural areas; socio-economic development and defense and security maintenance, to name but a few.

Meanwhile, the province should pay more attention to communes and villages with difficult conditions to further enhance socio-economic growth; encourage local people to uphold great unity strength to fulfill local political, economic, cultural and social tasks; actively participate in building a healthy and strong government; and effectively implement the movement “All people united to build new-style rural and civilized urban areas,” and more.

On the occasion, General Phan Van Giang handed over financial support to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Yen province for the construction of 20 great-solidarity houses in the province; presented the Central Military Commission (CMC)’s gifts to Binh Dan village and Tan Dan commune, as well as policy beneficiaries and needy households in Binh Dan village.
