Ten outstanding activities and movements of military youths from 2017 to 2022 have been selected prior to the upcoming 10th Military Youth Union Congress for the 2022-2027 tenure.
1. “Returning to the root and military-civilian festive day” program

The “Returning to the root and military-civilian festive day” program took place on December 14, 2019 at the Safety Zone Historical Relic Site in Thai Nguyen province with various significant political and social activities. The event was one of the activities of youths in the whole military to mark the 30th anniversary of the whole people’s defense festival and 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army.
The program included health check-up, gift presentation activities, an artistic exchange, camping, contests on the 30th anniversary of the whole people’s defense festival and 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, and a video making contest on military youths studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle.

This was a key activity of military youths in 2020 and 2021, during which various political meetings for military youths and the Party were held, and 6,289 youth projects and tasks were completed.
Notably, the ceremony marking the 90th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union was held in both online and in-person forms at 114 locations nationwide with the participation of 4,000 delegates. At the event, 90 excellent Youth Union cadres in the 2016-2022 period, ten outstanding youths, and 18 promising ones were honored.

To mark the event, military youths upgraded a relic site, launched an emulation movement, made a documentary on youths in the military, and organized a song composition contest. On the occasion, the Military Youth Advisory Board held a cerebration ceremony and received the first-class Fatherland Protection Order.

This is a key annual activity in military youth movement to acknowledge, encourage, and honor outstanding young soldiers. Over the past five years, the military has around 16,000 youths honored at all levels.

The whole military has had 2,723 projects from 195 units, of which 1,404 have been awarded. It was evaluated that the quality of projects and initiatives from military units have been enhanced to better serve national defense and security consolidation and socio-economic development while research contents have closely been associated with the reality of the unit's tasks and been highly appreciated by their feasibility.
6. “Spring in border areas – Tet on islands” program

The “Spring in border areas – Tet on islands” program is one of special model launched by the Military Youth Advisory Board to share difficulties and hardships with people and troops in border areas and on islands on the occasion of the lunar New Year festival.
Over the past five years, the program have presented 106 houses, more than 330,000 chung cakes (traditional Vietnamese sticky rice cake), and hundreds of thousands of gifts, scholarships, bicycles, and breeding cows to those in border areas and on islands. Tens of thousands of people have had their health checked.
In addition, activities, including camping, folk games, sports exchange, chung cake wrapping, and artistic programs have been held.

Annually, Youth Union organizations in the whole military hold 4,000 meetings, seminars, and forums, upgrade war cemeteries, and organize candle-lit events and artistic programs to commemorate fallen soldiers.
Military youths have closely worked with Youth Union organizations of localities and their sister units to conduct social activities and help local people eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and build new-styled rural areas.
In particular, the military youth force has presented 300 houses, hundreds of thousands of gifts, scholarships, bicycles, breeding cows, national flags, and portraits of President Ho Chi Minh to policy beneficiaries and national contributors. Military youths have also provided health examination for tens of thousands of policy beneficiaries, those who had rendered good service to the nation, needy fishermen, and children with good academic results.
8. Participation in COVID-19 pandemic fight, natural disaster prevention, and search and rescue

More than 80,000 youths in the whole military worked at checkpoints in border areas and in localities. Military Youth Union organizations mobilized resources, medical equipment, and food to help pandemic prevention units and local people.
In addition, over 600,000 young troops volunteered to assist local people in responding to and overcoming consequences of natural disasters, prevent saltwater intrusion, and conduct search and rescue missions.

2,264 Youth Union organizations held the contest for their cadres. 46 cadres entering final rounds were honored by the General Department of Political Affairs.
