Ship CSB 6009 embarks on Tet patrol mission at sea
PANO - To ensure security, order, and safety in the Southwestern waters and maintain combat readiness to safeguard the national sacred maritime sovereignty, Ship CSB 6009 of Squadron 421, Flotilla 42, under the Command of Coast Guard Region 4, departed on January 5 to undertake its patrol mission during the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival of 2025.
While many people are busy wrapping up year-end tasks to reunite with their families, the officers and soldiers on Ship CSB 6009 are diligently preparing for their mission. Their duties include ensuring combat readiness, patrolling, combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, and being prepared for search and rescue (SAR) and assistance for fishermen working at sea during Tet. These efforts contribute to protecting national sovereignty and ensuring a peaceful Tet for the people.

Every officer and soldier experiences unique emotions with each mission, but those during the Tet festival are especially deep. Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Thang, Captain of Ship CSB 6009, shared, “Serving on the sea is an honor for every coast guard soldier. Therefore, all of us actively prepare for the mission. To celebrate Tet warmly, we’ve ensured all essential supplies are ready, so the atmosphere aboard will be as festive and complete as at our home.”

Colonel Vu Dinh Nga, Deputy Political Commissar of Flotilla 42, emphasized, “Patrolling during Tet is a significant political mission that contributes to safeguarding maritime sovereignty and ensuring a peaceful Tet for people. Upon receiving the assignment, the Party Committee and Chain of Command of Flotilla 42 provided specific guidance and motivated the officers and soldiers of Ship CSB 6009 to build determination and thoroughly prepare for this mission.”

Before the ship’s departure, the Command of Flotilla 42 and other unit leaders visited and encouraged the officers and soldiers. Colonel Le Duc Tuan, Commanding Officer of Flotilla 42, stressed, “Ship CSB 6009 has thoroughly prepared in all aspects, including equipment, provisions, medicine, and supplies for a fulfilling Tet celebration at sea.” He urged the officers and soldiers to uphold unity, overcome challenges, remain vigilant, and excel in their duties, especially during the peak days of the Tet festival.
