This five-day event features numerous activities, including a book arrangement festival and book exhibition, an exhibition showcasing maps featuring the theme “Hoang Sa (Paracel), Truong Sa (Spratly) belong to Vietnam - Legal and historical evidence,” a contest on youth’s review of books; a seminar on promoting reading culture on Ben Tre Radio - Television, a festival for librarians, STEAM festive day, and a robocon competition, among others.

As reported, the Library of the Ben Tre provincial Military Command has more than 600 types of books, 13 types of newspapers, and more than 5,000 books about culture, politics, President Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts, and literature and novels. Annually, the unit serves thousands of troops, contributing to enhancing their cultural and spiritual life and promoting ethic values and traditional fondness for learning.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Ben Tre provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Be Muoi affirmed the important role of books, which are considered a master key to unlock a better person with richer knowledge and soul.

Reading books is an essential demand of people around the world. She hoped that the second edition of the province’s event will bring joy and help readers enrich their knowledge to serve their working, studying, and research.

Earlier, the Youth Union Chapter of Division 8 of Military Region 9, in collaboration with Tien Giang University and Youth Union Chapter of Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province, organized an exchange and a book introduction, as part of the activities to respond to the second book and reading culture festival. 

Talking about the event, Private Pham Tan Tai, a soldier of Platoon 4, Company 9, Battalion 3, Regiment 1, Division 8, said that this is a significant event which further affirms and honors values of books and cultural significance and necessity of Vietnam Book Day. The event helps troops to enrich their knowledge and skills, thus contributing to improving themselves.
