PM attends live-fire exercise of Army Corps 12
PANO - The live-fire tactical exercise of Army Corps 12 was officially kicked off on December 23. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and encouraged participating forces.
Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs General Luong Cuong, Minister of Public Security General To Tam, Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung directed the exercise.
This is the first live-fire exercise that the Army Corps 12 has conducted after it was established earlier this month with the merging of Army Corps 1 and 2. Although it has been freshly formed, Army Corps 12 has overcome difficulties to thoroughly prepare for the exercise.
Thanks to the timely direction of the steering committee and functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, the pro-activeness of party committees and chains-of-command of agencies and units, close coordination among forces, and responsibility and determination of participating troops, the live-fire took place as scheduled.
Army Corps 12’s live-fire exercise is a large-scale event with the participation of different forces, large number of weapons and equipment. According to Commander of Army Corps 12 Major General Truong Manh Dung, to prepare for the important event, the army corps has directed agencies and guided units to carefully check and adjust personnel and receive weapons and equipment; worked with relevant agencies and units to conduct field surveys and build live-fire plan; issued directives and regulations on ensuring safety for participating forces; conducted training to raise troops’ skills of using new weapons and equipment.
