Non-commissioned officer’s good deed lauded
PANO – Major Tran Duc Hau, a non-commissioned officer of the Military Command of Kim Bang district, Ha Nam province, has been commended by his unit’s personnel and local people for returning lost property to its owner.
Earlier on February 16, Major Hau found a purse on the side of Road 21A through Village 5 of Ma Nao hamlet, Ngoc Son commune, Kim Bang district while on the way home from his unit.
The purse contained VND 7 million in cash, an ID card named Le Huong Thom (born in 1998 and lives in Hamlet 2, Nhat Tam commune, Kim Bang district), and other important personal papers.

Immediately, the officer reported the case to his senior officers and Nhat Tam commune’s Police to find the purse’s owner.
After verifying, Nhat Tam commune’s Police confirmed that Le Huong Thom is the owner of the purse. On February 17, Non-commissioned Major Tran Duc Hau returned the purse to Ms. Thom.
Touched by Hau’s good deed, Thom offered to give Hau money for his kindness, but he insistently refused to accept it. He said that any officer in his case would do the same.
The officer’s deed contributed to enriching the beautiful virtues and tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. It was praised by his senior officers and popularized among agencies and units under the Ha Nam provincial Military Command for their personnel to follow.
