Present at the event were General Ngo Xuan Lich, Defense Minister; Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army; leaders of relevant agencies of the Ministry of National Defense and 450 official delegates representing youth union members in the whole army.

The central report at the congress highlighted outstanding achievements of the five-year implementation of the youth union campaigns in the whole army, stressing that the task has been comprehensively and firmly developed, contributing to meeting all targets set at the eighth Military Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Congress. Several outcomes can be named as the youth unions were built firmly in terms of politics, ideology, and organization; the emulation movements were carried out thoroughly and effectively, and so on. As a result, many military youth union organizations were honored by the Party, the State, the Army and the central and local agencies.

In addition, reports at the congress also pointed out shortcomings and their causes and mapped out orientations and schedules for the next period. Notably, three major tasks of the military youth union in the 2017-2022 term were enhancing training quality, combat readiness, scientific research and technical initiatives; improving youth union staff’s capabilities, raising youth union members’ awareness of the building of regularity and observing discipline.

At the event, delegates discussed a political report which will be delivered at the 11th National Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Congress and on the 10th Youth Union Congress’ Charter.

Nineteen official and two alternate delegates, who were elected at the congress, together with another 12 delegates will join the 11th National Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Congress.
