MND mission visits troops of Truong Sa archipelago and DK1 platforms
PANO - The first mission of the Ministry of National Defense (MND), led by Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, inspected all working aspects of military units stationed in Truong Sa island district (Khanh Hoa province) and on DK1 platforms in the country’s Southern continental shelf from April 5 to 13.

The mission was joined by Rear Admiral Pham Manh Hung, Second-in-Command and Chief of Staff of the Naval Service, and representatives of MND’s affiliated agencies and units.

The inspection results showed that units stationed on islands and DK1 platforms have embraced and seriously carried out higher levels’ resolutions and directives. The troops have comprehended their duties and showed high determination and exerted all-out efforts to complete the assignments. Meanwhile, chains-of-command at all levels have thoroughly grasped combat plans, dealt with contingencies in the air, and at sea in a timely manner, contributing to firmly protecting national sovereignty over sea and islands.

In his concluding speech, General Tan acknowledged and hailed troops on islands and platforms for their great efforts to overcome difficulties, good definition of duties, solidarity, unity, determination to safeguard national maritime sovereignty, and continental shelf.

The deputy chief of the General Staff also applauded units for effective and creative solutions in task performance.

Pointing out shortcomings, General Tan urged troops to fix them in the soonest time. He emphasized major tasks that units need to implement effectively in the time ahead.

On the occasion, the mission presented meaningful gifts from agencies and units in the whole military to troops and islanders. They also visited fishermen and encouraged them to continue going fishing in the open sea and join hands in defending national sovereignty over sea and islands.
