Gen. Cuong, who is the Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, stated that during his working session on March 14 with the magazine in Hanoi.

He also urged the magazine’s leaders to uphold the publication’s principles and goals, and follow closely troops’ life to have more interesting articles. Moreover, they were asked to concentrate on fostering writers and poets, finding more young writers as successors of the magazine.

“Each cadre and reporter of the magazine must self-study and renovate themselves to write more articles of artistic values, to develop as a high quality and prestigious magazine of the army and of the country as a whole,” said Gen. Cuong.

Gen. Cuong also hailed the magazine’s staff for their recent articles on soldiers, which received high appreciation from the public.

Over the past time, the Military Arts and Letters Magazine has applied various initiatives in publication, issuance, and composition.

Last year, it well published two issues per month with 34,000 copies a month and kept its contents in line with orientations and high quality of art, meeting readers’ expectation, especially those in the armed forces.

The magazine’s Party Committee and Editorial Board have encouraged and created conditions for writers and poets to have fact-finding trips in border areas, on islands and in flood-hit areas. The magazine vividly reflected troops’ life and their thoughts, sentiments, strong will and built vitally artistic figures.
