General Department of Politics to create more favourable conditions for the press

PANO – Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, on February 19th chaired a meeting with press agencies inside and outside the army.

The event was to review the results of coordinating activities between the general department and relevant agencies, and to put forward measures to raise the quality and effectiveness of information dissemination on military, defence, and military external affairs work as well as activities of the armed forces.
Addressing the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia praised the press agencies for covering activities and events well, contributing to building the army, defence posture and firmly defending socialism.
General Nghia added that last year agencies and units of the general department held more than 45 meetings with press agencies to seek measures to promote the effectiveness of coordinating activities and to create favourable conditions for reporters to disseminate information on the missions of protecting the nation and national sovereignty over sea and islands. The effective implementation of coordinating activities helped encourage the whole Party, people, and army to successfully carry out the national construction and defence cause.
The Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics asked press agencies to focus on disseminating the implementation of the resolutions of the 12th National Party Congress and 10th Military Party Congress, guidelines on national protection in the new context and contribute to raising people’s awareness of building the whole people’s defence, as well as successfully carrying out the national protection mission.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the Political General Department will continue creating favourable conditions for press agencies to effectively carry out dissemination missions in a timely manner in 2016.
On the occasion, the General Department of Politics presented certificates of merit to 25 reporters and editors in acknowledgement of their efforts in disseminating activities on national defence, military, and military external affairs in 2015.
