Deputy defense minister extends Tet greetings to former defense leaders
PANO - As the lunar New Year 2024 is approaching, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister, visited and extended Tet greetings to former defense leaders and leaders of Nam Tu Liem district (Hanoi) on January 31.
Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong inquired after former Defense Ministers, General Pham Van Tra and General Ngo Xuan Lich, hoping that the two generals will continue to follow and contribute constructive ideas to the cause of national defense, the protection of the Fatherland and the building of the military.
He took this occasion to informed the two generals of the whole military’s profound outcomes in performing military-defense tasks in 2023, especially in the implementation of the Resolution of the 8th Plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee on the Strategy on Protecting the Fatherland in the new situation and the plan on adjusting the Vietnam People Army (VPA)’s organization and forces in the “elite, compact, strong” direction.
For their part, the two generals expressed their belief that under the leadership of the Party and State, directly the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, the VPA will successfully accomplish the tasks of building and safeguarding the Fatherland.
* On the same day, Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong offered incense to pay tribute to late Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien, former Chief of the General Staff and former Deputy Defense Minister. Gen. Cuong also visited and presented Tet gifts to the Party Committee, authority, and several agencies and units in Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi.
