Defense Minister works with Naval Service and Military Region 3

General Phan Van Giang addresses the conference of the Navy's Party Committee.

The conference evaluated that in 2023 the Naval has comprehensively completed assigned missions. Notably, naval units have closely followed, accurately evaluated and forecast situational developments and made recommendations to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to issue guidelines and measures to effectively handle circumstances at sea in a timely manner, contributing to firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands and ensuring a peaceful and stable environment; strictly observed regulations and kept forces and vehicles on standby to conduct unexpected tasks; formed delegations to visit Truong Sa island district in Khanh Hoa province and DK1 platforms. The Party Committees of the Naval Service and its affiliated units have strictly observed the MND’s decision on reorganizing agencies and units and merging logistics and technical agencies.

Speaking at the conference, Gen. Giang praised the Navy for its achievements in 2023 and urged the service to thoroughly grasp and strictly carry out higher levels’ directives and resolutions in line with actual situations; strictly observe combat readiness regulations; practice scenarios close to situations at sea and islands; pay attention to building defense posture in combination with the people’s warfare posture; master technologies, weapons, and equipment; promote production.

The same day, the Defense Minister and a delegation of the MND worked with the Military Region 3 Command on the preparation for the investment in the first phase of the construction of the barracks of Regiments 2 and 8 of Division 395.

Highlighting the military region’s pro-activeness in preparation, Gen. Giang requested its Party Committee to build specific resolution and regulations on the mission; synchronously carry out Party and political work, especially mass mobilization activities to ensure the effective implementation of the two projects; work with local authorities to agree on measures to effectively remove difficulties and obstacles.

He urged l Military Region 3 to continue to cooperate with functional agencies of the MND, local authorities, departments, and industries to conduct field surveys and carry out the projects in accordance with local infrastructure planning, socio-economic development strategy, defense and security.
