On checking and grasping real situations of units, Gen. Luong acknowledged and highly appreciated the units’ pro-active preparations for the lunar New Year celebrations as well as care for troops’ families, especially the needy ones.

Gen. Luong stressed that Military Region 7 in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular are the key areas in terms of military and defense. Thus, the units must pay attention to ensuring security, social order and safety and promoting coordination with relevant forces to solve situations in a timely manner so that local people could enjoy a cozy and safe Tet holiday.

The deputy defense minister wished the troops good health, promotion of Uncle Ho’s soldiers’ good virtues and contribution to strong agencies and units. He asked the units to implement duties with high resolve right after Tet celebrations, particularly the reception of recruits and launch of training season 2024.

The same day, Gen. Luong extended Tet greetings to Hero of the People’s Armed Forces Sr. Lt. Gen. Phan Trung Kien, former Deputy Defense Minister. He also offered incense in tribute to late Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Thanh Cung.

* Also on February 2, Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Vu Hai San paid pre-Tet visits to units under the Nam Dinh provincial Military Command, during which he was reported on their task performance in 2023 and key missions in 2024 as well as their combat readiness posture and Tet 2024 preparations.

Gen. San urged them to observe higher levels’ directives and orders on combat readiness, keep their personnel and vehicles ready on request, regularly practice scenarios, exercise disease prevention, organize Tet activities for troops and prepare for the new training season.

* The same day, a mission led by Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Gau paid tribute to General Nguyen Chi Thanh at his memorial house in Hanoi and promised to follow the general’s example to contribute more to the military building and the national development.

* On February 2, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Pham Truong Son visited and extended New Year greetings to the Ha Tinh provincial Military and Border Guard Command.

Speaking highly of their good task implementation in 2023, Gen. Son requested the units to review and adjust their combat readiness plans based on their duties and real situations and hold interesting activities for on-duty troops during upcoming Tet holiday.

On the afternoon the same day, Gen. Son presented Tet gifts to war veterans, former youth volunteers and impoverished households in Can Loc and Cam Xuyen districts in Ha Tinh province.
