Overview of the working session

In the first six months of 2026, Coast Guard Region 4 successfully and comprehensively fulfilled its assigned tasks. The unit maintained strict combat readiness, closely monitored situations, and handled arising issues effectively. Meanwhile, Party and political work was closely implemented in line with training tasks. The unit also excelled in dissemination, mass mobilization, emulation drives, and internal security, to name but a few.

The unit’s law dissemination initiatives like digital law bookshelves, social media outreach, and the “Coast Guard Accompanies Fishermen” and “I love my homeland’s sea and islands” programs proved highly effective. Notably, it also coordinated with press agencies in the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, contributing to fostering love for national sea and islands while raising the public’s awareness of law observation.

In addition, the unit took drastic actions against smuggling and maritime crimes. Since early 2026, the unit processed 222 cases, confiscated 500,000 liters of diesel oil, and intercepted seven drug-related cases, among others.

Concluding the inspection, Senior Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung commended these achievements and urged the unit to strictly address existing shortcomings to ensure a substantive change in awareness and task performance quality, as well as in leadership and inspection.

Directing future assignments, he demanded strict adherence to directives on protecting maritime sovereignty and building an “elite, compact, and strong” and modernized Coast Guard, and Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s directive on “two steadfast principles, two accelerations, and two preventions,” and “five-pillar” motto, especially his directives during the visit to the region on November 20 last year.

The unit must strictly ensure combat readiness and monitor situations to be ready in any circumstances, pro-actively coordinate with other forces to safeguard maritime security and continue serving as a core force against IUU fishing, to name but a few.

The GDP deputy chief also emphasized strengthening political education, building troops’ strong political stance and law observance, building a pure Party organization, boosting mass mobilization by supporting fishermen’s livelihoods, and accelerating digital transformation across the unit, among others.
