CMC’s Standing Board reviews Law on VPA Officers
PANO - The Central Military Commission (CMC)’s Standing Board, on July 27, held a conference to debate the draft Law on amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Officers.
Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang chaired the event.
During the conference, delegates gave comments on the report of the Central Military Commission's Standing Board on the amendments and supplements to the Law on the VPA Officers, draft laws on amendments and supplements, among others.

Accordingly, after the Ministry of National Defense (MND) made recommendations on the work, the Government issued a resolution on the building of a law project on the amendments and supplements of a number of articles under the Law on the VPA Officers, basically agreeing with the three policies proposed by the MND.
On July 23, 2024, the National Assembly's Standing Committee issued a resolution agreeing on the Law project on the amendments and supplements of a number of articles under the Law on the VPA Officers to submit to the National Assembly for approval at the 8th session slated for October, 2024.
Meanwhile, the CMC’s Standing Board directed the amendments and supplements with good quality, ensuring the position, prestige of the VPA officers. Related units and agencies actively build draft law documents as regulated, to name but a few.
During the conference, delegates also discussed the supplements of officers’ positions; increasing the age of military service for officers; adjusting and supplementing the highest ranks and military titles of officers in some units.
The Defense Minister requested functional units to finalize the draft law to report to the CMC and the Politburo as scheduled.
