The event was chaired by Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang and attended by Deputy Defense Ministers Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong, who is also Chief of the General Staff, Sr. Lt. Gen. Vo Minh Luong, Sr. Lt. Gen. Pham Hoai Nam, and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan.

In a solemn atmosphere, Gen. Giang and the delegation of the CMC and MND showed their respect and gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap and commemorated the heroic martyrs, soldiers, and compatriots who sacrificed their blood and bones to protect the independence and freedom of the nation.

Throughout his life, General Vo Nguyen Giap, the "Big Brother" of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), made great contribution to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. The General's life and activities were closely linked to the development of the Vietnamese revolution, important and glorious historical milestones in the struggle for national liberation and Fatherland protection.

In the relic site’s guestbook, on behalf of troops in the whole military, the Defense Minister promised to be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people; determined to build the revolutionary, regular, elite, and modernized VPA and joining the entire Party and people to successfully carry out the renewal process and firmly defend the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Eighty years ago, at Tran Hung Dao Forest, the Vietnam Dissemination and Liberation Armed Team was established with 34 officers and soldiers. Under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh and the command of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the armed team continuously grew and achieved glorious feats-of-arms. Over the past eight decades, the VPA has overcome difficulties and hardships to defeat all enemies and actively respond to any circumstances to successfully fulfill the two strategic tasks of building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam.

On this occasion, the leaders of the MND presented gifts to policy families and national contributors in Nguyen Binh district.

The same day, a delegation of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), led by its Deputy Chief Lt. Gen. Truong Thien To, offered incense in tribute to former Chief of the GDP and former deputy defense minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Song Hao and former Chief of the GDP Le Liem.

During the visits, Gen. To and the working delegation expressed deep gratitude to the two comrades for their great contribution to the cause of national liberation, Fatherland construction and defense, and VPA and GDP building. He affirmed that the officers and soldiers of the entire military have been and are upholding the revolutionary achievements, following the glorious tradition of previous generations, building a strong political stance, promoting tradition, contributing their talent, deserving the title of Uncle Ho's soldiers, contributing to beautifying the glorious tradition of the GDP and the heroic VPA.
