Vietnamese military units holds regular meetings with Laos’ counterparts

Over the past time, the Son La Provincial Military Command and the provincial military commands of Oudomxay and Luang Prabang have upheld the spirit of special solidarity, traditional friendship, mutual understanding, and trust. Implementing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2025, the two sides have proactively exchanged information, closely coordinated in handling emerging issues, contributing to maintaining political stability and social order in each province; regularly exchanged information; and jointly advised local Party committees and authorities on addressing matters related to free migration. They have also intensified communication efforts to encourage residents to strictly observe border regulations and uphold their responsibility in building a stable and developed Vietnam–Laos borderline.

The Son La Provincial Military Command and the military commands of Oudomxay and Luang Prabang agreed to continue promoting awareness among officers, soldiers, and people about the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in general, and among the three provinces in particular.

The sides will also enhance exchanges of experience in socio-economic development and in building local armed forces, especially in military professional training and mass mobilization work; while maintaining regular, rotational provincial-level meetings throughout 2026.

At the conferences, the Son La Provincial Military Command signed memorandums of understanding with the Oudomxay and Luang Prabang Provincial Military Commands for 2026.
