During the visits, Gen. Tuan extended best wishes to the Lao units’ officers and staff and hoped that the relationship between the border guard forces of the two countries will further develop, contributing to building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.
According to the Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Border Guard Command, over the past time, especially in 2023, the border guard forces of the two countries have well coordinated in managing and protecting border areas, combating crimes, and maintaining security and public order.
The two sides successfully organized the first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange in Kon Tum province; advised leaders of the two defense ministries to successfully sign the Protocol on Border Guard Cooperation between the two defense ministries on January 6, 2024; worked together to hold the second Young Border Guard Officer Exchange in Ha Tinh province and the annual talks between the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Lao Border Guard Department.

On this occasion, Gen. Tuan conveyed the greetings and handed over a letter of congratulation from Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Lt. Gen. Le Duc Thai to leaders of Laos’ border guard and public security units.
* On April 2 and 3, a delegation of the Military Region 4 Command, led by its Political Commissar Lt. Gen. Tran Vo Dung, visited and extended wishes to Party General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on traditional Bunpimay festival.
At meetings, Gen. Dung briefed the host on the military region’s achievements in military and defense and defense diplomacy tasks. Over the past time, Military Region 4 has directed its units and localities in the region to cooperate with the Lao units and localities sharing the borderline to well implement military and defense missions and build a stable, peaceful, and developed borderline.
Thongloun Sisoulith and Sonexay Siphandone expressed delight at Vietnam’s socio-economic development and Military Region 4’s task accomplishment. The Lao leaders affirmed that the Lao Party, State, and people always bear in mind the contribution and sacrifices of the Vietnamese troops and people to the Lao people’s struggle for national liberation. They believed that the close and faithful relationship between the two countries will be preserved and strengthened by current and future generations.
