On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnamese Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and GDP, General Quyet thanked the Lao GDP’s Chief, his spouse, and high-ranking delegation for attending the 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese GDP’s foundation day. He emphasized that their presence served as a great source of encouragement and importantly contributed to the event’s overall success.

General Quyet briefed General Thongloi Silivong on the activities organized by the Vietnamese GPD in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the VPA and the 35th anniversary of Whole-People Defense Festive Day. He also extended appreciation to the Lao Ministry of Defense for sending a military music band to participate in the “Military Music Exchange 2024” Program and an art troupe to perform at various military units in Vietnam.

During the meeting, the Vietnamese GDP’s Chief highlighted the continued prioritization of defense cooperation between the two nations, based on the results of the August meeting between the two Chiefs of the GPDs and cooperation plan in 2024. He emphasized the need to boost the implementation of agreed-upon areas of cooperation for 2025, focusing on training, Party and political work, memorial construction, and the renovation of monuments.

On this occasion, the host thanked the Lao Ministry of Defense for sending a high-ranking delegation to participate in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the VPA’s foundation day, the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day, and the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2024, held from December 19 to 22. Acknowledging the participation of Lao defense enterprises in the expo, he said that their presence would significantly contribute to the event's success.

For his part, General Thongloi Silivong expressed his delight at attending the celebration and congratulated the Vietnamese GPD on its remarkable development and achievements over the past 80 years. He also highlighted the general department’s role in building the politically-strong VPA.

On this occasion, General Thongloi Silivong thanked the Vietnamese GPD’s support to the Lao GPD in such fields as Party and political work, human resource training, infrastructure development, and media and communications. He also affirmed the commitment to further strengthening the close relationship between the two militaries and the two GDPs.
