The event was organized by the U.N. Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) at the presence of UNMISS Force Commander Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian, Acting Head of UNMISS’s Field Office Jane Kony, UNMISS Chief Medical Officer Iqbal Mohd, and Commanding Officer of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in South Sudan Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Kim Tinh.
In their speeches, Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian and Ms. Jane Kony acknowledged efforts and contribution of the L2FH Rotation 4’s staff to the U.N. peacekeeping mission and to local people.
UNMISS representatives also highly appreciated contribution, wholeheartedness, professionalism and competence of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in general and the L2FH Rotation 4’s staff in particular over the past time.

At the ceremony, UNMISS officials presented the noble medals to 63 members of the L2FH Rotation 4.
In turn, Director of the L2FH Rotation 4 Lieutenant Colonel Vu Minh Duong recalled outstanding achievements gained by the hospital since it took over the peacekeeping mission in Bentiu.
Accordingly, the hospital has provided high-quality healthcare and treatment for nearly 1,400 U.N. staff and local people. They have successfully performed several complex surgeries and conducted aero-medical evacuation for 12 patients.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese medical staff has actively engaged in many meaningful programs hosted by UNMISS, such as joining civilian-military coordination (CIMIC) activities, holding expertise exchanges with foreign peers, partaking in cultural and sports activities, supporting hospitals in Bentiu, donating school items to local students, and sharing medicines and medical equipment with local authorities.

The ceremony ended with a number of outstanding artistic performances by the hospital’s staff, leaving deep impression of Vietnam and its people on the host and international friends.
