Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2 welcomed in Abyei
PANO - In the initial weeks at the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2 conducted several visits and exchanges with the leadership of the UNISFA, military units, and local authorities in Abyei.
The delegation of Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2, led by its Commanding Officer Senior Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung, paid a courtesy call on UNISFA Deputy Force Commander Brigadier General Abu Syed Mohammod Bakir. During the meeting, Brigadier General Abu Syed Mohammod Bakir warmly welcomed members of the Engineering Company Rotation 2 and praised the results achieved by Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 1 in their term. He expressed his hope that Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2 will continue to perform their tasks effectively during their mission.

During the meeting, Senior Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung sent thanks for the warm reception and enthusiastic support from the UNISFA leadership towards Vietnam's peacekeeping forces. He emphasized that all officers and soldiers of Vietnam’s Engineering Company Rotation 2 will try their best to fulfill the tasks assigned by the UNISFA leadership.

At the reception for the Engineering Company Rotation 2’s delegation, Chief Administrator for the Abyei region Chol Deng Alak shared memorable impressions about Vietnam's country and people. On this occasion, the Vietnamese delegation presented a meaningful gift to Mr. Chol Deng Alak, a watch featuring a Dong Son bronze drum symbol and a map of Vietnam. The leadership of Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2 hopes that the "blue beret" soldiers from Vietnam will continue to make positive impressions on the Abyei government and people in the future.

The delegation also held a meeting with Robert Kirkwood, UNISFA Chief of Mission Support. Mr. Robert Kirkwood welcomed Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2 to the UNISFA and highlighted the significant role that the Vietnam Engineering Company will play in the coming period. The leadership of Vietnam's Engineering Company Rotation 2 thanked Mr. Robert Kirkwood for sharing valuable experience to support the successful implementation of their tasks.
Prior to these events, the delegation also visited the Mayor of Abyei, the tribal and spiritual leaders in Abyei, and military units at the UNISFA.
