At the talks

The Vietnamese delegation, led by Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Huan, Commanding Officer of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command, and the Lao delegation, headed by Captain Khamphone Sensivongsa, Commanding Officer of the Phongsaly provincial Military Command, jointly discussed measures to enhance mutual cooperation.

Over the past year, both sides have diligently implemented the Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnam Border Guard Command under the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and the Border Guard Department of the Lao People's Army's General Staff. They have collaborated in mobilizing residents in border areas to strictly adhere to the Protocol on the Vietnam - Laos borderline and national border markers and the Vietnam - Laos agreement on land border and border gate management regulations in 2016. Additionally, they have jointly managed and safeguarded each country's border sovereignty. Regular exchanges of information and bilateral border patrols have also been carried out. The Son La and Dien Bien provincial border guard forces organized two refresher courses on border affairs for 40 officers of the Lao People's Army in 2023.
