Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, chaired the opening ceremony.

Addressing the event, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan held that during Vietnam’s participation in U.N. peacekeeping operations, the country has received support from other countries in this field, including Canada, which has contributed to raising the training quality and its preparation before deployment to U.N. missions.

Leigh McCumber, Political and Public Affairs Counselor of the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam, noted that in the coming time, Canada and Vietnam will co-host two more courses: The United Nations Staff Officer Course and the Exercise Planning Course.

UNLOC 2023 sees the participation of six lecturers from Canada, and around 40 trainees from Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
