Vietnam, Cambodia to boost cooperation on building military-defense legislation
PANO - The ministries of national defense of Vietnam and Cambodia on July 9 agreed on the contents of a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation to build military and defense legislation during talks in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Senior Colonel Han Manh Thang, Director of the Legal Department under the Ministry of National Defense (MND) while the Cambodian delegation was headed by General Mom Sophat, Director of the MND’s Legal Department.
During the talks, the two sides discussed the draft MoU’s contents and highly appreciated the preparation of documents for building the MoU over the past time.
They emphasized the importance of the signing of such a MoU as it would create favorable conditions for the two defense ministries’ cooperation, and actively contributing to developing each country’s defense sector.
The outcomes of the talks will be reported to the leaders of defense ministry of the two countries for early signing of the MoU .
On the basis of the inked protocol on bilateral defense cooperation for the 2015-2019 period between Vietnam and Cambodia and with the aim of enhancing the cooperation and mutual support on building military-defense legislation, the Vietnamese MND will assist the Cambodian side in organizing training courses to promote professionalism of those in charge of making military law, in developing facilities and other cooperative fields.
