The Cambodian delegation was led by General Suon Samnang, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Policy and External Relations and head of the compilation team, who is visiting Vietnam from March 10 to 14.

At the meeting, General Binh expressed confidence that the visit would help enhance mutual trust and understanding between the two countries' militaries in general and between their defense policy and strategy research and advisory agencies in particular. He affirmed that the leadership of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam always attaches great importance to promoting comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia based on the traditional friendly relationship between the two countries.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff emphasized that the visit’s outcomes would serve as a basis for the team to advise the Ministries of National Defense of both countries on matters related to the drafting and publication of the Defense White Paper, thus strengthening and promoting the relationship between the two militaries. In the near future, both sides will continue to enhance cooperation, exchange experience and share information about building the Defense White Paper.

For his part, General Suon Samnang affirmed that Cambodia highly values the defense cooperation between the two countries and thanked the Vietnamese Party, State, military, and people for the sincere support to Cambodia, from the most difficult periods to the present. He added that the Cambodian Government, military, and people will never forget the sacrifices and assistance of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers. General Suon Samnang expressed his belief that the two countries would continue to strengthen their solidarity and traditional friendship, promoting a long-term and positive relationship between the two nations.

Talking about the outcomes of his working session with the Vietnamese Institute for Defense Strategy and History, General Suon Samnang stated that both sides had a practical and effective working session. He thanked the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and the institute for facilitating the Cambodian Defense White Paper compilation team's visit and work in Vietnam.

Earlier the same day, a delegation of the Vietnamese Institute for Defense Strategy and History, headed by its Director Lieutenant General Vu Cuong Quyet, worked with the Cambodian delegation. During the meeting, the both sides exchanged and shared experience on building the Defense White Paper, laying the foundation for them to advise their respective Ministries of National Defense on the drafting and publication of the Defense White Paper.
