Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet receives Cuban young officers
PANO - Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet received a delegation of young officers of the Cuban armed forces, led by Major General Marcelo Perez, Deputy Political Chief of the Ministry of the Armed Forces on November 24 in Hanoi.
At the meeting, General Quyet emphasized that the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, which was established by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, has been treasured and strengthened by generations of leaders of the two parties and states, peoples, and militaries and become a symbolic relationship of the era. Over the past 60 years, despite the ups and downs of history, the relationship between the two nations remains intact, as it was in the beginning.

The deputy chief of the General Department of Political Affairs affirmed that the two sides have paid attention to strengthening cooperation in defense in general and in party and political work in particular focusing on training, internal security protection, dissemination, and sharing of experience in foiling the hostile forces’ schemes. The signing of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation on the occasion of the Vietnam visit of the Political Chief of the Ministry of the Cuban Armed Forces in December, 2022 has opened up new cooperation fields in accordance with each country’s demand. He said that the General Department of Political Affairs will continue to direct its agencies and units to practically and effectively carry out reached contents and the memorandum of understanding on cooperation and sharing of experience in party and political work.

Mentioning the exchange program between young officers of the two countries, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet affirmed that leaders of the General Department of Political Affairs always support and create favorable conditions for young officers of the two countries to strengthen exchange and experience sharing, contributing to deepening the defense ties between Vietnam and Cuba.
For his part, Major General Marcelo Perez treasured the sentiment of the Vietnamese Party, State, people, and military for the Cuban people.

He agreed with General Quyet’s viewpoints on the upcoming young officers exchange program that during the event, the two sides will discuss and propose measures to enhance the effectiveness of information dissemination and education to help young officers grasp the significance, history, and tradition of the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states, peoples, and militaries. They will also exchange effective models and initiatives to build up revolutionary ideals and patriotism for youths of the two militaries.
