Medical supplies given to Cambodian military units
PANO – A ceremony to hand over medical supplies to assist Cambodian military units’ efforts in combating COVID-19 pandemic was held on May 27 at the Tinh Bien International Border Gate under the chair of Deputy Commander of Military Region 9 Major General Nguyen Hong Hai.
At the event, the Military Region 9 Command presented 167,500 face masks, 500 bottles of hand sanitizer, and 500 sets of protective clothing to Cambodia’s Special Military Region Command. The Vietnamese military region also offered 167,500 face masks, 561 bottles of hand sanitizer, and 500 sets of protective clothing to Cambodia’s Coastal Defense Command.
The Can Tho municipal People’s Committee handed over 5 tons of rice, 20,000 face masks and 500 sets of protective clothing to the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Kampong Chhnang province, while the An Giang and Dong Thap provincial People’s Committees donated over VND 2 billion to assist Cambodia’s Coastal Defense Command and Prey Veng Military Sub-region in containing SARS-CoV-2.
Speaking at the ceremony, a representative of the Coastal Defense Command under the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces highlighted the valuable support of the Vietnamese Government, army, Military Region 9, and localities in the Mekong Delta Region to the Cambodian Government, army and people. He said that these gifts will help Cambodia contain the virus.
For his part, Major General Nguyen Hong Hai highlighted the efforts of the Cambodian Government, army and people in combating COVID-19 over the past time. He also recalled the effective coordination between Military Region 9 and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces’ units in managing the shared borderline and in preventing the spread of the pandemic.
The medical supplies are among the practical and significant contributions of Vietnamese military units and localities to share hardship with military units under the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and the Khmer-Vietnam Association in Kampong Chhnang province in the fight against COVID-19, contributing to strengthening the time-honored friendship between Vietnamese and Cambodian localities and units.
