During the reception, General Cuong affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance and gives top priority to continuously strengthening and developing the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainable partnership with Cambodia. He thanked the Cambodian government, the Ministry of National Defense, and the RCAF for their close coordination and effective support in the search, collection, and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and military advisors who laid down their lives in Cambodia during different periods of war.

Highlighting that Vietnam is implementing the 500-day campaign to accelerate the search, collection, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains, General Cuong expressed his hope that General Sao Sokha and the RCAF would continue to provide strong support to help expedite this important humanitarian mission.

The GS chief also noted that bilateral defense cooperation has continued to develop in a substantive and effective manner, serving as one of the key pillars of Vietnam - Cambodia relations. He highly appreciated the outcomes of the talks between Lieutenant General Le Van Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and General Sao Sokha, particularly the achievements in cooperation in education, training, and professional development between the two defense ministries. These efforts have contributed to building a contingent of high-quality military personnel while further strengthening solidarity and mutual trust between the armed forces of the two countries.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong proposed that, in the coming period, both sides focus on effectively implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of National Defense of Vietnam and Cambodia on enhancing cooperation in education, training, and human resource development, thereby further deepening bilateral defense ties.

For his part, General Sao Sokha emphasized that his working visit to Vietnam was conducted within the framework of the 2026 Cooperation Plan between the two defense ministries. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and relevant military agencies and units for their support, close coordination, and valuable sharing of experience, enabling Cambodia to study and apply these lessons in practice.

He also hoped that Cambodia and Vietnam would continue to work closely together to further promote bilateral defense cooperation and the overall relations between the two countries.
