General Staff’s Deputy Chief receives Lao guests

At the meeting, Major General Pham Truong Son highlighted the visit of Lieutenant General Pasith Thiengtham to Vietnam, which took place not long after the successful trip of the Vietnamese Defense Minister to Laos. The Vietnamese defense official emphasized that the visit was of great significance, contributing to realizing the common perceptions of the two countries’ defense ministers as well as further deepening the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

Major General Pham Truong Son stated that senior leaders of Vietnam and Laos always attach great importance to preserving and consolidating the special solidarity, which is vital to the two nations.

Emphasizing that defense cooperation is an important pillar of the Vietnam - Laos relationship, Major General Pham Truong Son highly appreciated the efforts of agencies and units of the two sides over the past time in implementing cooperation tasks in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vietnamese Deputy Chief of the General Staff affirmed that leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army always support and create all favorable conditions for agencies of the two countries to strengthen their cooperation.

For his part, Lieutenant General Pasith Thiengtham thanked Major General Pham Truong Son for the reception. He said that the visit was one of the practical activities in the "Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022” to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - 2022).

Lieutenant General Pasith Thiengtham briefed Major General Pham Truong Son on the Lao delegation's activities in Vietnam and expressed his belief that the effective implementation of defense cooperation contents between the two countries is a concrete contribution to the successful organization of the "Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022.”
