General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed his delight at the development of the Vietnam - Philippines strategic partnership in many fields. He emphasized the importance of military and defense cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the significant achievements in recent years.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Roy Mabagos Galido informed the host about the outcomes of his earlier meeting on the same day with Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army. He affirmed his commitment to furthering cooperation between the two militaries, particularly in deepening military and defense ties.

Appreciating the results of the discussion, General Nguyen Tan Cuong expressed hope that the two militaries would continue to enhance exchanges at various levels, boost training programs, and support each other at ASEAN-led multilateral forums. He also proposed cooperation in potential areas such as disaster response, humanitarian assistance, and search and rescue operations. The Vietnamese defense leader reaffirmed his support for practical cooperation between the two militaries.

On this occasion, General Nguyen Tan Cuong extended his sincere thanks to the Philippine Ministry of Defense for sending high-level delegations to participate in the celebrations for the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-People Defense Festive Day (December 22), and the Vietnam Defense Expo in 2024.
