This is the first year that the MR9 Command has worked with the Can Tho municipal People’s Committee and the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Institute to organize a military-civilian festival to celebrate the Khmer’s traditional New Year, also known as the Chol Chnam Thmay festival. The activity contributed to showing the care of the Party, State, Military and MR9’s armed forces towards the Khmer people and Khmer Theravada Buddhist followers in the Mekong Delta.
At the Khmer Theravada Buddhist Institute in Chau Van Liem Ward, O Mon district, Can Tho city, General Phuong inquired after and sent greetings to Most Venerable Dao Nhu, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Executive Council, Head of the institute; monks, dignitaries, and followers of the Khmer Theravada Buddhism in the region.
The GDP’s Deputy Director also shared socio-economic development achievements as well as COVID-19 prevention and control developments. He also expressed his hope that they would continue to strictly observe the Party’s and State’s guidelines and policies, actively take part in national patriotic emulation movements, join the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and people’s councils at all levels, and seriously implement the pandemic prevention and control measures according to the Health Ministry’s instructions.
The delegates took this occasion to hand over gifts to some learners of the institute as well as to several monks, dignitaries, and followers in the area.

At these meetings, he wished them a happy Chol Chnam Thmay festival and urged them to further uphold their homeland’s traditions, do business well, actively join hands to build strong political systems at the grassroots level, and become good examples for younger generations to follow.

Briefed on the two units’ task performances over the past time, the GDP’s leader requested them to follow local situations while vividly popularizing events in the Mekong Delta region, especially activities of the Party, State, and military leaders, local armed forces, and people. He encouraged them to bring into play the image of soldier-journalists and produce outstanding works in the coming time.
