General Chien took this chance to thank the Government of the Republic of Korea, and Korean businesses, organizations and people operating in Vietnam for providing Vietnam with finance, vaccines, and medical supplies to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Vietnamese general emphasized that this year, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. This is an important milestone in the history of the two countries’ relations. Thus, he hoped that the two defense ministries will organize more exchanges and cooperation activities to mark it.

Stressing that the bilateral defense ties have received due attention from the the sides’ leaders and enjoyed new development steps, General Chien highlighted effectively-implemented and expanded cooperation fields, such as the annual defense policy dialogue at the deputy defense minister level, cooperation between arms and services, personnel training, and war consequence settlement.

The host expressed his hope that in his post, Ambassador Park Noh Wan will continue to support and pay attention to strengthening the bilateral defense cooperation and back the implementation of the project in which Vietnam and the Republic of Korea join hands to settle war consequences.

For his part, Ambassador Park Noh Wan thanked General Chien for the reception and confirmed that he would do his utmost to boost the cooperation ties between the two countries and the two defense ministries.

The Korean diplomat suggested the two sides enhance exchanges and contacts to develop the bilateral defense ties on par with the relationship of the two countries.

At the meeting, the host and guest hoped that the two defense ministries’ cooperation will focus on exchanges of delegations at all levels, particularly high-level ones, the deputy defense minister-level defense policy dialogue, cooperation in training, navy, U.N. peacekeeping operations, defense industry, consultation and mutual support in multilateral forums.
