General Lich emphasized the fine development in the two countries’ relationship in a practical manner, especially in defense ties. He highly valued and thanked the Australian side for their support in deploying Vietnam’s level-2 field hospitals to the UN Mission in South Sudan and promoting war consequence settlement.
The Vietnamese defense chief hoped that in her post, Ambassador Robyn Mudie will make active contributions to reinforcing the bilateral ties between Vietnam and Australia, including defense cooperation. He also expressed his hope that Australia will support Vietnam during Vietnam’s ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2020.
For her part, the Australian diplomat noted that the bilateral defense ties have been developing in an intensive manner and have become an important cooperative field in the Australia - Vietnam relationship. She also stressed that Australia is pleased to continue assisting Vietnam in UN peacekeeping operations.
Affirming that Australia backs Vietnam as the ASEAN Chair in 2020, the ambassador wished Vietnam to keep supporting the development of the ASEAN - Australia partnership. She promised to try her best to enhance the two countries’ ties, including defense ties.

The same day, while receiving Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Vahram Kazhoyan, General Lich said that Vietnam and Armenia have great potential for cooperation, including defense ties.
The Vietnamese Defense Minister expressed his support for the establishment of bilateral defense cooperation between the two countries, adding that the two sides should consider cooperation in delegation exchange, personnel training, UN peacekeeping operations, and war consequence relief.
He hoped that in his position, the Armenian Ambassador will act as a bridge to connect the two countries and promote bilateral cooperation, especially defense ties.
Emphasizing there is much room for the two countries to expand cooperation, Ambassador Vahram Kazhoyan affirmed that his country is willing to establish defense ties with Vietnam.
