Gen. Chien highly praised and thanked the Russian government and ministry for their attention to the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center.

The Vietnamese official said that this year, despite many objective impacts, the center has well completed missions according to the resolution of the 33rd meeting and those assigned by the Vietnamese and Russian sub-committees.

The center’s scientific and technological research has reaped positive outcomes and showed effectiveness in reality. Notably, many products of the center have been approved for wide application by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. In addition, some important research cooperation activities interrupted in the past have been resumed.

Together with developing human resources, upgrading materials, Russian language training, the center has paid due attention to external relations, actively contributing to the fulfillment of its political tasks.

An overview of the 34th meeting

Regarding plans for 2024, Gen. Chien suggested the two sub-committees direct the center to complete personnel organization, invest more in modern equipment, speed up the development of the program on scientific research and application in the 2025-2029 period with a focus on app study and technology transfer for approval at the 35th meeting. He also requested the center to promote its interdisciplinary, applied, and dual-use research; the sub-committees and relevant ministries and departments to keep contact and exchange information to handle difficulties in a timely manner. 

For his part, Mr. Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky spoke highly of the two sides’ coordination over the past time. He emphasized that in scientific and technological cooperation, the role of the center  must be increasingly enhanced. Thus, the two sides should soon ratify the center’s research program designed for the next five years.

At the event, delegates heard a report on the center’s achievements, approved the scientific and technological research plan 2024, discussed basic contents of the 2025-2029 program and the organization of the 35th meeting, and signed the minutes of the 34th meeting and other related documents.
