The host and guest reviewed several outstanding achievements in the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their Defense Ministries in recent years. In particular, in May 2025, during the state visit to Azerbaijan by Party General Secretary To Lam, the two countries officially elevated their relations to a strategic partnership after more than 30 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties (in 1992), ushering in a new era of cooperation.
Vice Admiral Nghiem emphasized that many Vietnamese naval officers have been trained at Baku Naval Academy, one of the cradles of naval training. On behalf of the Vietnam People’s Navy, he expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its significant support to the development of the Vietnamese Navy.
