Since Vietnam and China agreed to deepen and elevate their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and build a "Vietnam-China Community with a shared future" that carries strategic significance in December 2023, the relations between the two countries have continued to maintain a positive development trend, spreading widely through all levels and sectors and creating a vibrant, effective, and practical cooperative atmosphere. Political trust has been consolidated, while exchanges and meetings have been held in intimate atmosphere. Currently, the two sides are in discussions to determine new dialogue mechanisms.

In recent years, the two countries have witnessed significant positive changes in cooperation in such fields as economics, trade, investment, tourism, education, local cooperation, and people-to-people and youth exchanges. In the first six months this year alone, the import-export turnover increased by 24.1% compared to the same period in 2023; China continued to lead in the number of newly licensed projects in Vietnam; and the number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in the first six months of this year exceeded the total for the entire year of 2023. The two sides are also promoting new cooperation contents in infrastructure and trade facilitation.

General Secretary and President To Lam’s China visit that takes place shortly after he was elected to his new position underscores Vietnam’s consistent policy of treasuring and prioritizing its relationship with China. It also reaffirms the consistent foreign policy defined at the 13th National Party Congress and in Resolution No.34-NQ/TW of the Politburo on independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, with priority given to ties with neighboring countries. The visit also aims to actualize Conclusion No.71-KL/TW of the Politburo on major tasks and solutions to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress.

In the context of the current global and regional political-security situation, General Secretary and State President To Lam's state visit to China is an opportunity to enhance relations between the two parties and countries, bringing the Vietnam-China relationship into a new phase of truly solid, stable, and sustainable development. The visit also holds special significance for the diplomatic environment and development of the country and of the Vietnam-China relations in the coming time.

We believe that General Secretary and State President To Lam's visit will be a great success, continuing and adding new vitality and momentum to the spirit of traditional Vietnam-China friendship and cooperation. A series of activities and especially the shared understanding achieved by the highest leaders of the two parties and countries during this visit will serve as a foundation to further promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, ensuring it continues to develop solidly, comprehensively, and effectively, bringing more benefits to the people of both countries.
