Chairwoman of Russia’s Federal Council visits Vietnam
PANO - A high-ranking delegation of Russia’s Federal Council, led by its Chairwoman Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, begin their three-day official visit to Vietnam on February 20 at the invitation of Chairwoman of Vietnam’s National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

The delegation includes Umakhanov Ilyas Magomed - Salamovich, the Council’s Deputy Chairman; Goryacheva Svetlana, First Deputy Secretary of the Council’s Committee on Rules and Organizations of Parliamentary Activities; Vasiliev Valeriy, Deputy Head of the Council’s Economic Policy Committee; and Alania Totoonov Alexander, Deputy Head of the Council’s Committee of External Relations.
Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko first took office as Chairwoman of Russia’s Federal Council on September 21, 2011 and reelected to the post in 2014.
She visited Vietnam in 2005 as Governor of Saint Petersburg and in 2012 as Chairwoman of Russia’s Federal Council.
Vietnam and Russia elevated their ties to a strategic partnership in 2001 and to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.
In the first 11 months last year, the two-way trade reached 3.5 billion USD, an increase of 16.4 percent year on year. The two countries are striving to raise the figure to 10 billion USD by 2020.
