Vietnam has emerged as a new potential market for New Zealand’s potatoes, according to Radio New Zealand on October 29.
Chief Executive Officer of Potatoes New Zealand Champak Mehta said the scenario is highly possible later this year, considering trade negotiations with Vietnamese importers in Wellington last week.
Mehta spoke highly of the Vietnamese market where potato is popular in the local diet. Necessary trading procedures are expected to be finalised this December.
Australia is now the biggest consumer of New Zealand’s frozen potatoes while Fiji buys its fresh potatoes the most.
