The airport, designed to meet 4E standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, has two runways, 3,048 and 3,059 metres long. It can receive modern aircraft such as Airbus A350, A321 and A320, and Boeing B787 and B747-400.
Tan Son Nhat hosts 400 flights daily run by 43 international airlines.
The airport received over 22 million passengers in 2014 and the 2015 figure is expected to surge 18 percent to 26 million, including 10 million foreign travelers.
To ensure the airport’s operation during peak seasons, ACV and Tan Son Nhat Airport are working to expand the international terminal to increase its capacity to welcome 13 million foreigners a year. Meanwhile, upgrades and enlargements will be made to parking areas, raising the number of parking positions from 41 to 46.
A domestic multi-storey car park and a taxi lobby are under construction and scheduled to become operational next year.
In addition, the airport takes drastic measures to fine-tune its service, including enhancing inspections, providing necessary information for passengers, and improving restaurant and WiFi quality.
