Addressing the ceremony, Major General Le Dang Dung, Acting Chairman cum General Director of Viettel Group affirmed Viettel’s target to be in the top 10 biggest telecommunications and information technology businesses in the world by 2030. He affirmed that the formation of the corporation continued the fourth development phase of the military business to realize the goal to become a high-tech group with three key sectors, including the defense industry, the telecommunications industry and network security. It also helps the group to become a leading business in the “Make in Vietnam” process and to bring its products to international markets.

Viettel’s research and manufacture sector has completed its three development phases. The first one from 2011 to 2013 focused on researching, taking shape and piloting manufacturing products. In the second one from 2014 to 2016, the business manufactured and sold its first products to domestic units. In the third phase from 2017 to now, Viettel has standardized its manufacturing process in line with international standards and brought its products to international markets.

Regarding the hi-tech field, Viettel has successfully studied and produced 78 products and 111 patents. Its total revenue from hi-tech products in 2018 reached US$1.05 billion.
