Viettel had an impressive jump and achieved the highest brand value growth in the world in the telecommunications sector.

According to Brand Finance's CEO Davied Haigh, Viettel saw its consolidated revenues increase by 7.4 percent in 2019 over 2018, and it currently holds 53 percent of Vietnam’s mobile network marketshare. The company is also the first telecommunications operator  in Vietnam to successfully test 5G calls.

There are just 36 telecom companies in the 2020 listing of the world’s top 500 brands by value. Four/fifths of the brands saw their values fall. Over the past five years, the combined value of all telecom brands in the Brand Finance Global 500 listing stalled and only reached USD 558.4 billion in 2020, compared to USD 567.7 billion in 2015, while all other sectors have  recorded significant increases.

Meanwhile, according to the Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, Viettel is the only telecommunications service provider in the world also manufacturing  telecommunication networking equipment.

Earlier, Viettel successfully tested 5G phone calls on itself-developed equipment on January 17, and is expected to commercially launch 5G services in June, 2020.
