Earlier, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee agreed with the ministry’s master plan to boost Tan Son Nhat Airport’s capacity by up to 40 percent.

According to the plan, the airport will add a runway, a terminal with a capacity of 15 million passengers and an airplane parking and maintenance area.

Tan Son Nhat Airport handled about 32.5 million passengers in 2016 although it has a designed capacity of 25 million passengers a year.
