The Ho Chi Minh City team bagged 269 gold, 246 silver and 140 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Hanoi’s team came second with 125 golds, 79 silvers and 55 bronzes, followed by Quang Tri with 18 gold, 27 silver and 11 bronze medals.

The Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi teams also won first and second places in the junior tournament for people with disabilities, while Thai Nguyen came third.

Vu The Phiet, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Paralympics Association said this year’s tournament was held in a larger scale than previous years, drawing many young talents with bright prospects for the Asian Para Games and Paralympic Games 2020.

The event was organized by the Vietnam Paralympics Association, the National Sports Administration and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports. It drew more than 1,000 athletes and coaches from 32 localities across the country.

It aimed to select athletes for the upcoming ninth ASEAN Para Games. Vietnam team is expected to have 110 athletes competing in seven out of 16 sports at the event.
