PANO - On November 18 evening, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in association with the Ha Giang provincial authorities, kicked off the second H’mong Ethnic Cultural Festival in 2016 in Dong Van district.

Present at the opening ceremony were Nguyen Van Binh, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission and Head of the Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region; and Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

Under the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the H’mong ethnic group in the country's process of renovation, integration, and sustainable development", the event drew over 1,000 H’mong ethnic artisans from Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang, and Lang Son provinces.

During the two-day event, many special cultural activities, such as ethnic folk games, local specialties, traditional costume, cuisine and native product display, and folk song performances, were held.

Speaking at the event, Mr.  Nguyen Van Binh stressed that the event was a meaningful cultural activity, which highlighted the Party and State's policies for the H’mong ethnic community, contributing to reinforcing the national unity as well as maintaining political stability and defense-security.
