Female jumper named the best athlete of 2018
PANO - Track and field athlete Bui Thi Thu Thao, the 2018 Asian Games gold medalist, has become the most outstanding athlete of Vietnam in 2018.
Earlier, Thao pocketed a gold for Vietnam in the women’s long jump category at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia in August. It was also the first gold medal for the country’s track-and-field team at an Asian Games event.

The jumper ranks first in the poll with 700 points, followed by midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai from the Hanoi FC, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang from Quang Ninh province, and rower Pham Thi Thao from Thai Binh province.
Meanwhile, track and field coach Nguyen Manh Hieu from the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi topped the list of outstanding coaches.
Swimmer Vo Thanh Tung from Ho Chi Minh City was named as the most outstanding athlete with disabilities, while coach Bui Thanh Tam from Can Tho city’s swimming team won the title “Most Excellent Coach with Disabilities.”
