A-class prizes presented to winners

Present at the event were State President Tran Dai Quang, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Head of the Party Central Committee's Information and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City’s Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, and other representatives from Central and Hanoi bodies.

The contest, launched from January 1 to November 30, 2017 by the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA), and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), received over 1,100 journalism entries from various news and media outlets across the country.

The contest aims to emphasize the important role of the press in the anti-corruption and wastefulness movement.

Accordingly, the jury board decided to present two A, seven B, 10 C, and 12 consolation prizes to the winners. Among them, reporter Nguyen Van Hai from the People’s Army Newspaper won a C prize.

Also at the event, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man officially launched the second National Press Awards on the Fight and Prevention of Corruption and Wastefulness 2018. Addressing the ceremony, State President Tran Dai Quang congratulated the winners and affirmed that the Party and State have been attaching importance to the fight against corruption and wastefulness. So far, the whole country has seriously implemented resolutions on enhancing the Party’s leadership in preventing and fighting corruption and wastefulness, on promoting the quality in Party building and revamping in the current context, and on boosting the learning and following of the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh.

The State President highly valued outcomes of the fight against corruption and wastefulness, contributing to reinforcing the political system and consolidating the whole people’s trust in the leadership of the Party and State.

In addition, the press awards are part of the efforts to advocate and realize the Party resolutions on fighting corruption and wastefulness, and morality degradation among Party members, he added.

State President Tran Dai Quang also took this occasion to request all ministries, branches, localities, and people nationwide to uphold their responsibilities for the fight against corruption and wastefulness; and to call upon the close coordination among the VFF, VJA, press agencies, and relevant forces to combat corruption and negative phenomena.
